China-Europe-America Museums Cooperation Initiative holds 3rd dialogue

To celebrate this year's International Museum Day, which fell on May 18, the third dialogue on the China-Europe-America Museums Cooperation Initiative was held both online and in person from May 18 to 19.

Featuring three sub-forums, the event brought together over 30 international guests from the world of museums, arts, and culture.

Gao Anming, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), delivered a speech via video link. Gao emphasized that museums worldwide should fully utilize cultural relics and new technologies to facilitate mutual learning among civilizations and promote peace and development.

Gao added that CICG would collaborate with various sectors to hasten the integration of museums and international communication, promote the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative, and inject new momentum into exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.

Chen Yulu, president of Nankai University, noted that museums in different countries have maintained robust cooperative relationships through activities such as joint and traveling exhibitions. The exchange of cultural relics exhibitions has become one of the most influential and popular platforms for cultural interactions between China and other countries, he added.

Lina Mendoni, Greece's minister of culture and sports, encouraged museums to actively engage in discussions of critical local and international issues and to foster emotional resonance through public education and knowledge communication.

The series of dialogues on the China-Europe-America Museums Cooperation Initiative were jointly organized by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies under CICG, and the China-Europe-America Global Initiative. It aims to facilitate cooperation among museums worldwide and promote the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative to bridge differences and build consensus among civilizations.
