Seminar explores instruction of language, international communication

A seminar was convened in Beijing on Saturday focusing on the instruction of language and international communication at Chinese universities. 

The event brought together over 1,300 participants both online and in person, including scholars and experts from the field of foreign language education, heads of foreign language departments at higher education institutions, and leading educators. Discussions centered around boosting the capacity of higher education institutions in teaching language and international communication, as well as nurturing international communication professionals who can effectively communicate China's stories to international audiences.

Yu Tao, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), spoke at the seminar, calling for accelerating the cultivation of high-end international communication professionals with an aim of boosting the appeal of Chinese civilization. He also expressed his hope that universities would actively participate in cultivating international communication talent, and pledged that CICG would further leverage its resources to deepen collaboration with universities in international communication, in order to better introduce China to the world.

During the seminar, the CICG-affiliated organization Sinolingua Press signed strategic cooperation agreements with Peking University's School of Foreign Languages and School of Chinese as a Second Language.

The seminar was jointly organized by Sinolingua Press, the Foreign Languages Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education, and the Beijing College English Research Association.
