CICG executive visits Belgium to promote cultural exchange, translation cooperation

China International Communications Group (CICG) Vice President Yu Tao recently led a delegation to Belgium to promote cultural exchange and translation cooperation.

Yu met with Ambassador Fu Cong, head of the Chinese Mission to the European Union (EU), to discuss international communication among EU countries. He also met with Xu Chen, chairman of the Bank of China (Europe) S.A. and chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU, to exchange ideas about jointly promoting Chinese culture with Chinese companies in Europe.

Yu and the delegation also met with Bernard Dewit, chairman of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, to discuss cultural and people-to-people exchange. 

CICG's subsidiary the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, pledging to promote China-Belgian cooperation in areas of economy and trade, culture, and global governance.

The delegation also met with Javier Hernandez Saseta, head of the Strategy, Policy and Communication unit of the Directorate-General for Interpretation of the European Commission, introducing CICG's efforts in the field of translation as well as learning about the agency's policies and experience in translation and interpretation. The two sides also discussed ways of facilitating mutual learning between China and the rest of the world through translation.
