First media forum for new emerging countries held in Deyang, Sichuan

The First New Emerging Countries International Media Forum was held in Deyang, southwestern China's Sichuan province, and Manila, the capital city of Philippines, on March 31.

Organized by China International Communications Group (CICG), this event gathered over 400 participants from government agencies, foreign embassies to China, and international organizations.

Lu said the Belt and Road Initiative has promoted cooperation and people-to-people exchange among new emerging countries by gathering resources, and facilitated dialogue among different civilizations.

Lu expressed his hope for the forum to become a new platform for new emerging countries to promote their cultures through videos and images.

The intercultural communication empowered by media and digital technology will facilitate economic and trade exchanges among countries and bring different civilizations closer to each other, said Cristian Mancheno, minister plenipotentiary of Ecuador to China.

The event consisted of 12 side forums covering a variety of topics, such as intercultural communication, digital culture, rural revitalization, and global poverty reduction.

Additionally, a set of cultural activities was held during the event, aiming to build a global brand in the field of cultural events.
