Du Zhanyuan, president of China International Communications Group (CICG), said at the event's opening ceremony that the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has sent a clear signal to the world that, as it makes progress on its own development, China will create opportunities for the common development of the globe. As China pushes forward its drive toward modernization, it will join hands and build consensus on development with other countries to find the most effective way to collaborate on poverty reduction.

China will strengthen cooperation with the rest of the world, and carry out international poverty reduction projects with a focus on practical results to improve people's wellbeing, Du said, adding that the country will also share its knowledge, experience, and achievements in poverty reduction to support global sustainable development.

Du also said that CICG is ready to deepen cooperation with Yunnan province to build the forum into an open platform for countries to explore ways to reduce poverty and achieve development, so as to contribute to realizing the vision of mutual benefit and common prosperity.

Over 190 people, including diplomats, government officials, and experts and scholars attended the forum. The participants shared the view that China has been providing the world with wisdom on poverty reduction through actions, and said that they expect China to continue to deepen international cooperation on development through the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative to boost global prosperity and stability.

A 13,000-word report titled "From Poverty Elimination to Rural Revitalization: China's Practice and Its Global Relevance" was released at the forum. It introduced China's practices in consolidating and expanding the achievements in poverty alleviation and its ensuing efforts to promote rural revitalization in five aspects: dynamic poverty prevention, rural industry support, east-west paired assistance, assimilation of relocated residents, and modernization of rural governance. A research project called "Digital Technology Empowering High-Quality Growth in Nujiang, Yunnan" was also launched at the event.
