The success of the Chinese path to modernization has demonstrated that there are multiple ways to modernization, said Sun Zhuangzhi, director of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It has provided references for European and Asian countries to seek for a development path suited to their own national conditions, Sun said.

Yury Tavrovsky, chairman of the Russian side of the Expert Council of China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development, said he believes that in its path to modernization, China has explored a new approach for countries to modernize, especially for developing countries. He said that this approach is conducive to the common development of countries across the world.

Speaking about China's GDP growth target of around 5% this year, Liu Huaqin, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, said the goal is achievable given the strong resilience of the Chinese economy, huge market potential, and effective policies.

Trade between China and Russia exceeded US$190 billion last year, growing by 29.3% year on year. Tavrovsky said that, in 2023, the two countries will further expand cooperation in the fields of trade, tourism, and culture, which will bring more jobs and benefits to people in both countries.

This year's Beijing-Moscow dialogue has been the fifth one since its launch in 2016. It has become an influential bilateral platform to facilitate exchange between China and Russia.
