CICG invites international youths to visit Xiamen

From Feb. 25 to 27, more than 10 youths from 10 countries visited Xiamen, southeastern China's Fujian province, and learned about the city's role as an important window of opening up and a pioneer in China's modernization drive, and how the BRICS cooperation mechanism promotes global development in various sectors. 

The event was jointly held by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies under China International Communications Group and the information office of the Xiamen municipal government.

These young people came to the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution innovation center to learn about demonstration projects and various exchange activities among BRICS countries. At the Xiamen Special Economic Zone Memorial Hall, they got a better understanding of how Xiamen has promoted modernization in various fields. 

During their visit to a big data service center of the Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Xiamen Branch of the Bank of China, the foreign youths learned how the digital economy has driven the economic development of the city. 

In another tour to Gulangyu Island, the young representatives explored how heritage has been kept alive in an innovative way. The youths also attended a dialogue in Xiamen University to discuss the role of youth in modernization.

Besides, the Global Youth Research Center Xiamen Base was established during the event. It will serve as a platform for research communication and demonstration to promote mutual learning between young people in China and other countries.
