CICG co-hosts GBA international communication forum in Guangzhou

A forum on the international communication of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) was held in Nansha district of Guangzhou, southern China's Guangdong province, on Saturday.

The day marked the fourth anniversary of the outline of the GBA's development plan. More than 150 participants from government agencies, think tanks, universities, and media outlets attended the event.

Guo Weimin, president of the China Public Relations Association and former vice minister of China's State Council Information Office, said via video that the area's international communication will facilitate its development, help the international community understand China, and help create a favorable international environment for the Chinese path to modernization.

Guo suggested explaining the significance and sharing practices of the area's development, and making good use of various international communication channels to showcase the image of China as a trustworthy, loveable, and admirable country.

Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), also gave suggestions in his speech: first, to tell the area's stories to the world more comprehensively, vividly, and accurately and make them good examples for telling stories of the Chinese path to modernization; second, to consolidate and expand the advantages of relevant platforms and to build international communication brands in the area; third, to pursue innovation and promote collaboration of various forms.

Lu said that CICG would like to ramp up communication and collaboration with partners from all over the world, in a bid to make joint contributions to China's global reach and help the international community better understand the country.

In addition, the launch ceremony of an event collecting images, videos and other artworks on Guangzhou stories, and the inauguration ceremonies of the GBA (Nansha) International Communication Center and other international communication bases and research institutes were held during the forum.

The forum was jointly organized by the China Center for International Communication Development under CICG, the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, the South China University of Technology, and the CPC Nansha District Committee.
