The program, titled "China-Latin America International Writing Program," includes activities such as poetry competition, translation and publication of literary works, and visits of writers.

In his speech at the launch ceremony, Ecuadorian Ambassador to China Carlos Larrea said that cultural exchange plays an important role in deepening friendship between China and Ecuador, which will help to steer the bilateral relationship in the right direction.

Nicaraguan Ambassador to China Ian Coronel Kinloch said in his speech that excellent literary works could break boundaries of time and space, help build closer people-to-people ties, and advance cultural cooperation between Nicaragua and China.

Zhang Jinting, director of the Center for International Cultural Communication under China International Communications Group, said at the ceremony that literature has always played an important role in the exchange between China and Latin America. The program will provide an exchange platform for literary creators from China and Latin American countries, allowing more readers to learn about the excellent literary works and writers from both sides, he said.

The program was jointly launched by 15 organizations including the Pablo Neruda Foundation in Chile, the Chilean Writers' Society, and the Organizing Committee of the International Poetry Festival of Medellin, Colombia.
