2022 work conference of national translation education committee held in Shanghai
The 2022 work conference of the China National Committee for Translation & Interpreting Education was held at Shanghai International Studies University on Friday.

Yu Tao, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG) and chairman of the national committee, presided over the event. He said that the committee has facilitated the cultivation of high-level translation and interpretation professionals through studies, consultation, guidance, and promoting reform. The committee has become the most authoritative and highest-level guiding body and expert organization for the cultivation of translation and interpretation professionals, Yu said.

Yu proposed pooling strengths from all sides to advance international communication and the development of the translation and interpretation sector, cultivating high-level translation and interpretation professionals based on national needs, and breaking new ground in post-graduate education in translation and interpretation.

An expert committee composed of 23 experts and scholars, headed by former CICG Vice President Huang Youyi, was announced at the event.

Huang said that the expert committee gathers representatives from universities, translation associations, and other relevant professional organizations, aiming to promote the integration of government role and industrial, academic and research strengths in the post-graduate education for translation and interpretation. He also proposed that the national committee advances cooperation among government agencies, associations, and universities, and promotes the formulation and implementation of relevant standards and guidelines.
