CICG VP addresses event promoting Guangzhou via video

An event to promote Guangzhou, the capital city of southern China's Guangdong province, was held in Tokyo, Japan, on Friday. Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), addressed the event via video.

Lu said that friendship between people and cultural exchange have always been a solid foundation for China-Japan relations, and CICG has been actively promoting exchange and dialogue between the two countries while maintaining close and friendly cooperation with Japan in media, think tanks, and publishing. He said CICG will continue to carry out diverse cultural exchange activities to enhance people-to-people ties.

He also said that Guangzhou, as a pioneer of reform and opening up, plays an important role in China's exchange and cooperation with the rest of the world, and CICG has been working closely with Guangzhou and China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, opening a new chapter in the international communication of the Greater Bay Area. He expressed the belief that Guangzhou will make new achievements in friendly exchanges between China and Japan and continue to help the international community to better understand China.

The promotional event was organized by the Information Office of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government and the News and Information Center of Xinhua News Agency, with guidance from CICG and support from China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy. It was an activity supporting the 2022 Understanding China Conference (Guangzhou).
