Over 40 representatives from 15 countries attended a dialogue in Beijing and over the internet to discuss ways to respond to climate change and advance sustainable economic growth on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The dialogue was co-organized by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies under China International Communications Group (CICG) and the China-Europe-America Global Initiative.

Yu Tao, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), noted in his speech that climate change is the common challenge faced by all humanity, which requires concerted efforts and cooperation. He stressed that all stakeholders should reach consensus through bilateral and multilateral exchanges, focus more on the needs of developing countries, and strive to establish an equitable and reasonable global climate governance system with win-win cooperation, so as to ensure the goal of net-zero carbon emissions will be realized as scheduled.

He said that China is now pursuing green and low-carbon development, which fully demonstrates the idea that"lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." CICG stands ready to strengthen cooperation, share China's experiences with other countries, and contribute to improving global climate governance and building a cleaner world, he added.

During the two-day event, participants conducted in-depth exchanges on promoting sustainable green finance, roles of the youth in achieving sustainable development goals, and other topics. They all agreed that climate change has posed an imminent global threat, and all people, especially the youth, should work together to respond to the climate crisis and contribute their efforts to realizing sustainable development goals.

To move toward the U.N. 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and net-zero goals, it is also necessary to improve the cooperation mechanism between nations, fully leverage the roles of international organizations and private sectors, and integrate green finance in more areas, according to participants of the dialogue.
