Culture exhibition of China's Gansu province kicks off in Austria

An exhibition on the cultural and ethnic diversity of northwestern China's Gansu province opened in Vienna, Austria, on Oct. 30. 

Many governmental officials and representatives from the fields of culture and media of the two countries attended the opening ceremony both online and in person.

Chen Shi, deputy editor-in-chief of China International Communications Group (CICG) and director of the China Center for International Communication Development (CCICD) under CICG, attended the opening ceremony online. Chen said, since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Austria more than 50 years ago, the two countries have maintained a sound momentum of developing their cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

She also called for more efforts to strengthen cultural exchanges and inject more vitality into civilizations of the two countries.

The exhibition features photography works depicting natural sceneries, folk customs, and social development of Gansu province, as well as 10 thangka paintings, a traditional Tibetan scroll painting.

The exhibition is co-hosted by the information office of the Gansu provincial government and the CCICD. It is held at the China Cultural Center in Vienna and will last through Nov. 6.
