Cultural dialogue between China and Japan held in Dalian

An online dialogue on cultural exchange between China and Japan was held Monday.  

The dialogue gathered over 400 government officials, experts, and scholars from China and Japan to conduct in-depth discussions on cultural exchanges and mutual learnings between the two countries.

Yu Tao, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), delivered a speech at the forum. He said, "As this year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic ties between the two countries, we should further push forward practical cooperation in various fields and promote common development on the basis of people-to-people exchanges."

Yu pointed out that CICG has been committed to promoting dialogue between the two countries and maintained close cooperation with media organizations, think tanks, and publishing houses in Japan. 

Going forward, CICG will continue to strengthen cooperation with universities, research institutions, as well as its Japanese industry peers to promote the sound development of relations between the two countries, Yu said.

Kiyoshi Sugawa, lead researcher at the East Asian Community Institute of Japan, said the institute has strived to promote the sound development of relations between China and Japan since it was established by former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.

Sugawa called for efforts to enhance the role of people-to-people exchanges in promoting top-level planning and strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.  

In-depth discussions on cultural exchange and education cooperation were held during the forum, pooling wisdom for the development of relations between China and Japan.

The dialogue was jointly hosted by the Academy of Contemporary China and World under CICG, CICG Asia-Pacific, Dalian University of Foreign Languages and other institutions.
