Award ceremony of short video competition held in Hangzhou

The 2022 Fourth "My China Story" International Short Video Competition announced its winners at an award ceremony in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Monday. The event gathered more than 200 representatives from the media industry to participate both online and offline.

Gao Anming, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), addressed the ceremony via video. He said that the multi-media environment has prompted a surge of short video creators sharing their observations, stories, and experiences about China, and that these creators have become promoters of Chinese culture. 

Gao said CICG stands ready to work with industry peers to build a platform for telling China stories and contribute to cross-cultural communication and the development of civilizations around the world.

The competition was jointly organized by CICG and the Publicity Department of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee. 

According to Wang Xinling, a member of the competition committee, the contest received 65,000 entries with 72 receiving awards. The winners included 71 organizations and individuals from 34 countries and regions.

Wang added the competition has teamed up with nearly 10 foreigners since 2021 to make more than 20 multi-language videos telling China stories, which have been widely circulated on social media.

The award ceremony invited a host of foreign content creators to share their points of view on how to create a good China story. Jack Klumpp, host of "I'm in China," a video program produced by Xufang International Media under CICG, called on creators to discover lesser-known stories in China to share with their audiences. 

The short video competition was initiated by CICG in 2018 to encourage creators to share their China stories and provide their perspectives on China.
