Online youth forum held to promote exchange between China, Greece

A China-Greece youth forum was held in Beijing and Athens on Tuesday. The event gathered officials, business executives, and youth representatives from both countries via video link to discuss friendship and cultural exchanges between the two sides.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Greece.

At the forum, Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), said that China and Greece are good partners with mutual respect and mutually beneficial cooperation. Lu said the two sides uphold equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness between civilizations, promote the wisdom of ancient civilizations and Olympic values, and work together to promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Calling young people as creators of the future world and witnesses of mutual learning among civilizations, Lu encouraged them to keep exploring new ground.

Youth representatives from China and Greece held talks via video link on the latest development of green energy worldwide and the upgrading and transformation of Chinese energy enterprises. Greek youths also shared their work experience at Chinese enterprises and their understanding of the language and culture of the two countries.

The China-Greece Initiative on Sustainable Youth Development was also released at the forum, calling for Chinese and Greek youths to work together toward the goal of the U.N.'s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and contribute their efforts toward building a better world.

Themed "Dreams of Youth, Together to Growth," the event was held under the guidance of CICG, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Hellenic Republic, and China Energy Investment Corporation, and jointly organized by the Center for International Cultural Communication under CICG and Guohua Energy Investment Co. Ltd.
