Roundtable on China's economy held in Beijing
A roundtable dialogue themed on China's economy and the country's economic outlook was held in Beijing on Monday.

The event invited heavyweight experts who formerly held key government positions to explain the country's economic situation and policies to foreign diplomats. Discussions were also held on China's economic response to various challenges as well as its cooperation with other countries.

Jiang Xiaojuan, a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and former vice secretary general of the State Council, said that China's economy is resilient enough to rebound in the second half of the year and will maintain steady growth in the future.

Zhu Guangyao, former vice finance minister, noted that China has managed to achieve positive growth despite internal and external risks in the first half of the year. He said the government should implement concrete measures to increase productivity, raise innovation capabilities, and strengthen reform and opening up for steady and sustainable economic development.

Yi Xiaozhun, former commerce minister and former deputy director-general of the World Trade Organization, said China's rapid economic growth has paved the way for multilateral win-win cooperation and contributed to world economic development, adding that China opposes zero-sum games. He called on all trade partners to work together for mutual benefit.

In his concluding remarks, Yu Tao, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), said China and the rest of the world formed a community of a shared future with intertwined interests.
Yu said he hoped foreign diplomats could be more confident in China's economic future and international cooperation.
Co-organized by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies under CICG, the Beijing Diplomatic Service, and the Center for International Security and Strategy of Tsinghua University, the roundtable has become a regular event facilitating talks between foreign diplomats and Chinese authorities and experts.
