China, ASEAN hold award ceremony for 2nd 'Friendship and Cooperation' short video contest winners

The Second ASEAN-China "Friendship and Cooperation" Short Video Contest Award Ceremony was held on Nov. 11, 2021.

Since its launch in May, a total of 15,686 pieces of video projects were submitted and displayed on social media platforms including Weibo, Kuaishou, and Facebook. The videos had a total view counts of over 44.4 million. After a rigorous selection process, 20 projects were picked to go to the final round and won awards.

The year 2021 marked the 30th anniversary of China -ASEAN Dialogue Relations, and the short video contest themed with "Friendship and Cooperation" was of special significance and achieved fruitful results, said Deng Xijun, Chinese ambassador to ASEAN. Those awarded videos will be displayed ahead of the Special Summit to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations in late November, Deng added.

Against the backdrop of the ongoing pandemic across the world, these videos from China and the 10 member countries of ASEAN demonstrated great passion and enthusiasm of Asian youths to share their stories with the rest of the world, said Ekkaphab Phanthavong, deputy secretary-general of ASEAN.

Aung Myo Myint, permanent representative of Myanmar to ASEAN, said he believed that the contest played a special role in promoting cultural exchange. Since half of those videos were produced by ASEAN youths, Aung also expressed his confidence towards the young generation to further deepen the friendship and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.

Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Publishing Group, said the collection of individual stories have recorded the course of cooperation between China and ASEAN countries and demonstrated a brighter future for both parties.

The guest speakers from the National Radio and Television Administration of China, China International Publishing Group, China Public Diplomacy Association, and other Chinese and international organizations attended the ceremony either at the event or through the internet.
